Catherine was admitted to practice in April 2001 and signed the Bar Roll in May 2005.
At the Bar, Catherine's practice has been primarily focused on employment, discrimination and administrative law. In her practice, Catherine has had the opportunity to represent a number of employers and employees in a range of employment, occupational health and safety and industrial matters. Catherine is also regularly briefed to advise and appear on behalf of government authorities. As a result, she appears regularly in the Federal Court and the Federal Circuit Court.
Catherine has also appeared in the Supreme, County and Magistrates' Courts, the Fair Work Commission, the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
In addition to appearance work, Catherine has drafted advices and pleadings on trade practices, discrimination, franchise disputes, bankruptcy proceedings, contractual disputes and a range of employment matters such as construction of restraints of trade, redundancies, adverse action and unlawful and unfair dismissals.
Catherine has obtained a Masters of Law, specialising in workplace relations and is the Senior Vice President of the Industrial Bar Association. In 2008, she was awarded the Justice Pagone Prize for Tax Dispute and Written Advocacy. Catherine is also a sessional instructor in administrative law and federal court practice at the Leo Cussen Institute.
Catherine was listed in the Labour and Employment Law category of Best Lawyers in Australia for 2017, 2018 and 2019.
