Nicholas has a broad practice in commercial and public law.
Nicholas has significant expertise and experience in shareholder and consumer class actions and a particular interest in competition, consumer protection, defamation and media law.
Nicholas’ experience also includes appellate, banking and finance, construction, corporations, insolvency, leasing, judicial review and property matters. He has been briefed in litigation in both State and Federal Courts and has appeared unled.
Nicholas’ notable recent cases include Yong v Westpac Banking Corporation (VID1373/2019) (shareholder class action alleging breaches of the AML/CTF Act, for the applicant led by Wendy Harris KC, with Leana Papaelia, Dion Fahey and Chadwick Wong – ongoing) and Dann & Anor v CEO Housing (NTD24/2022) (contract, consumer and racial discrimination class action for the applicants led by Emrys Nekvapil SC, with Matthew Albert and Katherine Brown – ongoing).
Prior to joining the Bar, Nicholas was an associate at Phi Finney McDonald, where he practiced in shareholder, consumer and competition class actions, principally involving the banking and finance sector.
Nicholas read with Timothy Maxwell and his senior mentor is Michael Borsky KC.
