Emma Poole
Emma accepts briefs in commercial, public, common law and criminal matters.
Before joining the Bar Emma was at the Supreme Court of Victoria, first as Associate to the Honourable Justice Elliott and then as Executive Officer. She was a member of the Courts Procurement Board from October 2017. She came to the Court having worked for Dr Francis Gurry at the World Intellectual Property Organisation in Geneva.
Emma graduated from Melbourne Law School with prizes in Property, Civil Procedure and Legal Research. She holds a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) from the University of Oxford which she attended on an Allan Myers Scholarship. She also holds a BA Hons in English Language and Literature from Oxford.
Prior to studying law Emma was an actor in the UK, US and Australia working predominately on stage and in film.
Emma is reading with Dr Michael Rush and her senior mentor is Colin Golvan AM QC.
Jamie Grant
Jamie specialises in commercial and administrative law with particular experience in insolvency, banking and finance, credit recovery and securities enforcement, corporate disputes, and migration. Jamie also has experience in tracing, fraud, property, trusts, construction, liquor licensing, and child support.
Jamie was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand in 2010, where he regularly appeared as Counsel (both led and unled) on general commercial and insolvency matters before the District Courts, High Court, Court of Appeal, and Liquor Licensing Authority. Jamie moved to Victoria in 2015, and subsequently worked in the insolvency, commercial disputes and administrative law teams of a number of national Australian firms. Before coming to the Bar in Victoria Jamie appeared extensively as a solicitor advocate before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, Federal Circuit Court and Federal Court on merits and judicial review applications.
As a solicitor Jamie acted on matters for insolvency practitioners, banks, and government entities in both New Zealand and Australia. He has assisted on a number of high profile insolvencies including the liquidation of Timbercorp Finance Pty Ltd (In Liquidation). Jamie also has non-litigious experience in the areas of general commercial law, property, and maritime law.
Jamie began legal practice as intern to Christopher Finlayson QC, then Attorney General of New Zealand.
He is reading with Dr Charles Parkinson, and his senior mentor is David Batt QC.
Anna O’Callaghan
Anna accepts briefs in commercial, public, criminal and common law matters.
Before coming to the Bar, Anna was the Senior Associate to His Honour Judge Cosgrave, Head of the Commercial Division at the County Court of Victoria.
During her time in this role Anna assisted in a variety of commercial matters at both trial and interlocutory stages concerning contract law, employment, trade practices, banking and finance, equity and trusts, property, insurance and common law torts.
Throughout her time at the County Court, Anna also acted as a relief associate to judges in both the Criminal and Common Law Divisions.
Prior to working at the County Court, Anna completed her graduate traineeship and worked as a solicitor at Mills Oakley Lawyers. There, she gained experience in the Corporate, Private Advisory and Commercial Disputes & Insolvency practice groups.
Anna studied at Monash University where she received degrees in Law (first class honours) and Arts (majoring in French Studies).
