Young’s List is delighted to welcome Eugene Twomey, who signed the Victorian Bar Roll on 5 May 2022.
Eugene practices predominantly in commercial law. He has a broad practice with interests in regulatory enforcement and contractual disputes.
Eugene was an associate to Justice Elliott on the Supreme Court of Victoria from 2021 to 2022, assisting while his Honour drafted his decision in a long running dispute between Cargill Australia and Viterra.
Eugene also worked in the Disputes and Investigations team at Allens. While there he worked on matters including transfer pricing litigation, corporate investigations, and enforcement actions brought by ASIC, the Australian Federal Police and the Australian Energy Regulator.
Eugene has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne. He completed a Juris Doctor at Melbourne Law School, where he won the Routledge Award for Legal Theory. During his studies he worked as a research assistant to Professor Jeannie Paterson and Professor Elise Bant, focusing primarily on remedies under the Australian Consumer Law.
Eugene is reading with Daniel Bongiorno. His senior mentor is Philip Solomon QC.
