Madison Davies has a broad practice which includes general commercial, insolvency and public law matters.
Prior to joining the Bar, Madison was a Senior Associate in the Dispute Resolution and Litigation team at Maddocks, acting for public and private sector clients in a broad range of matters, including advising on statutory powers and regulatory enforcement, and acting in contractual disputes, Australian Consumer Law matters and shareholder oppression proceedings. During this period, she completed a secondment as a Senior Lawyer at the Department of Education, where she primarily assisted with subpoena compliance.
Madison was previously the Associate to the Honourable Justice Button during her Honour’s appointment to the Supreme Court of Victoria. She subsequently spent more than 12 months at the Court working closely with judicial officers, principally in the Commercial Court, and additionally across the Criminal and Common Law Divisions and the Court of Appeal.
Madison has a particular interest in insolvency matters. She commenced her career at Cornwalls, advising on both bankruptcy and winding up matters. She is a member of the Professional Development Subcommittee of Women in Insolvency and Restructuring Victoria. In 2023, she authored a three-part article series on unconscionable and asset-based lending in the Australian Banking and Finance Law Bulletin.
