Nick has a broad practice across commercial, criminal, and administrative law. He also accepts briefs in confiscation matters. He has appeared in the Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court, County Court, the Magistrates' Court, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the Children’s Court.
Nick has advised and acted for individual clients and government organisations in a variety of commercial matters, such as contractual disputes, property law and breaches of the Corporations Act.
Nick has appeared in the County Court, Magistrates' Court and Children’s Court in criminal matters for both defence and prosecution. He is often briefed by the Office of Public Prosecutions and is currently junior to Brent Young QC in a County Court drug importation matter on behalf of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.
Nick has provided advice regarding an application for judicial review in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia.
Nick is a sessional lecturer at Victoria University, teaching the Law of Financial Institutions and Securities.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Nick was Senior Associate to the Hon. Justice Judd at the Supreme Court of Victoria, assisting in a variety of commercial matters, including high-volume debt recovery, contractual disputes and consumer law. He also worked in the Court of Appeal and the common law trial division for the Hon. Justices Coghlan and Zammit.
Nick has worked as a Philanthropy Consultant at Philanthropy Squared, advising not-for-profit boards and executive management about major gifts fundraising. He is the Chair of an arts organisation, Play On, and a board member of West Space, a contemporary art space in Melbourne. He publishes in the area of arts law, including co-authoring a chapter in the Research Handbook on Art and Law (Edward-Elgar, 2020).
While at the University of Melbourne, Nick was a New Colombo Plan Scholar, studying for one semester in Singapore where he worked at Samuel Seow Law Corporation. He also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) from the Victorian College of the Arts.
