Young's List Chambers and Partners Asia Pacific 2020 rankings

Young’s List is delighted to congratulate Garry Bigmore QC, Charles Scerri QC, Robert Heath QC, Matthew Harvey SC, and Daniel Aghion who have been acknowledged as leaders in their field and recognised as notable practitioners in the Chambers Asia-Pacific Guide 2020.

Garry Bigmore QC "is an acknowledged authority on bankruptcy and reconstruction law and also practises across a wide range of banking and finance and other financial services-related issues, including those arising in the insurance sector. He also acts on professional negligence and real estate issues."

Charles Scerri QC "is emphatically endorsed by one interviewee as 'one of the leaders of the commercial Bar both in Melbourne and nationally,' while another, who similarly places him 'in the stratosphere of brilliant silks,' especially emphasises his 'extraordinary gift for keeping calm,' even when 'managing a large team in stressful situations.' A third source cites his 'extensive experience' in 'contractual disputes, competition and consumer law matters, class actions and commercial disputes within the mining and resources sector.'"

Robert Heath QC "is a 'very experienced silk with a strong focus on evidence and case preparation and a practical approach to dispute resolution.' Long regarded as a natural choice of counsel for high-stakes matters, he stands out particularly for his expert handling of insurance, professional negligence or infrastructure-related matters and also acts extensively as an arbitrator."

Matthew Harvey SC "is hailed by instructing solicitors for being 'very good and knowledgeable in maritime law at a domestic and international level.' Another identifies him as the junior barrister with 'the broadest and longest shipping experience' (Matthew took silk on 23 October 2019)."

Daniel Aghion "is a highly accomplished senior junior, regularly praised for his intense engagement with his cases, impressive courtroom performance and ability to compete on equal terms with senior counsel. Within a broad commercial practice, he offers expertise in proportionate liability and professional negligence issues and on disputes arising in the construction, insurance and pharmaceutical industries."
