Sarah Porritt delivered Solomon Island Advocacy Program

Solomon Island Advocacy Program
A group of Judges and Victorian Bar members were in the Solomon Islands the week of 22 May delivering an intensive advocacy skills workshop to the local DPP and Public Solicitors Office.

The group also met with the local Bar Association and DFAT to discuss further legal education programs in the Solomon Islands with particular interest in the Victorian Bar Empowering Women in the Law Program. The local Bar Association will shortly be subject to mandatory CPD requirements and have sought the Victorian Bars guidance and assistance in establishing a program. There is also keen interest in Judicial education and training.

The Bar has a longstanding commitment to legal education in the region and are looking at ways to work with local groups to continue to provide support.
