Young’s List barrister Michael Rivette has co-authored “Blockchain and the Australian Privacy Principles: never the twain shall meet” for the Privacy Law Bulletin issued by LexisNexis.
In the article, the authors explore the emergence of blockchain, its development and use, before turning to the challenge the Australian privacy regime places on effective implementation and uptake. The article examines the limits imposed upon blockchain by Australia’s privacy law for use and storage of personal information. It also explores the main areas of conflict between privacy and blockchain: correction, data breaches and jurisdiction.
