Thomas practices in intellectual property, technology, privacy, regulatory and commercial law.
An accomplished solicitor with more than eleven years experience, Thomas held senior roles within top-tier and boutique firms both in Australia and overseas. He also held senior positions within in-house teams at major financial institutions and government departments.
Prior to joining the Bar, Thomas was a solicitor at Clayton Utz and in-house counsel at ANZ. While at ANZ, he provided advice on the use of artificial intelligence within the bank’s operations. Through this experience, Thomas blends technical legal insight with a pragmatic understanding of commercial drivers of his clients.
Thomas earned his Juris Doctor at Melbourne Law School, receiving an award for academic excellence. Thomas also completed a Master of Laws in Competition, Information and Innovation Law at New York University, and then another Master of Laws in Intellectual Property and Information Law at King’s College, London. At King’s College, Thomas was the recipient of the Dickson Poon School of Law Prize for top student in his masters and the Frederick Mostert Prize for his thesis.
Thomas is admitted to the New York State Bar, and to the Senior Courts of England and Wales.
Thomas is reading with Banjo McLachlan and his senior mentor is Luke Merrick KC.
