David Forbes’ main areas of practice are intra-family business and property disputes. These typically involve an intersection of equitable principles with company law, partnership and property law. They also involve the Family Law Act where the disputes involve separating husbands and wives or de facto partners. He have acted in cases involving disputes between siblings, adult children and parents, husbands and wives and more distant relatives.
David has particular expertise in the role of accounting evidence. Often these disputes involve many years worth of accounting records which need to be carefully scrutinised.
David appears in all superior courts on the east coast of Australia. His preferred practice is to have a junior who is local to the relevant jurisdiction for routine interlocutory hearings and trial.
